Engineering Project Manager
While attending college, Luis began his professional engineering career assisting small firms with drafting services which sparked his passion for engineering. He began with tasks such as interpreting drawing markups, drawing revisions provided by engineers, preparing structural details and shop drawings for construction and coordinating installation and maintenance for residential projects.
In 2012, Luis began working for Fernandez Engineering in Sangolquí, Ecuador, which provided structural consulting and design for government contracts. There, he was able to expand his skillset to include cost analysis, design, shop drawings and inspections for large-scale civil projects such as bridges, overpasses and underpasses, anchored walls, retaining walls, small and large-scale buildings, landscaping and highway solutions involving both concrete and steel structures in multiples cities across Ecuador. In 2014, he was promoted to Project Manager on the design team, overseeing a team of six civil engineers and architects.
Luis graduated from Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE) College in Valle de Los Chillos, Ecuador, with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2015. Shortly after graduating, Luis moved to Charleston, SC, with his wife, Virginia.
Once in the U.S., Luis spent his first year improving his English and apprenticing with a general contractor in Charleston, where he learned the ins and outs of the construction business, including demolitions, renovations, flooring, siding, roofing, framing and plumbing. In 2016, Luis joined Wells Engineering as a structural engineer. He is a skillful designer, capable of providing solutions for even the most complex projects.
When he’s not engineering, Luis enjoys simple country life and resides in Hollywood, SC, with his wife, dogs Suki and Hank, their cat Pax, and a flock of chickens and ducks.
